On deck for wine tasting next week at VRW:

2022 Pine Ridge Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Notes: Providing a great point-counterpoint entry, the wine exhibits notes of Hershey’s milk chocolate and blue-raspberry. On the palate, Bing cherry juice and raspberry jam light up the senses, followed by fresh thyme and vanilla cream. Going from this juicy entry to the lush palate, a slight minerality is noticed on the back end. This is all well supported by the sweet, concentrated tannin for which the Stags Leap District is world renowned. This is followed by an essence of birch beer that is lightly woven together with uber-fine-grained tannin on the finish. This wine should age well for another 15 years. 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.5% Petit Verdot, 1.5% Malbec. $140

2022 Summer Dreams Super Chill Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Winemaker, Jayson Woodbridge Notes: Barrel selection blend showcases a unique expression of the Sonoma coast. Fresh, ripe red fruit, strawberry, and cranberries envelop the soft, floral nose. The full-bodied wine was fermented in puncheon barrels from the finest French oak and some micro-open top fermenters. Finishes with silky tannins and the perfect integration of acidity. $140

2022 Whitehall Lane Rutherford Napa Sauvignon Blanc

The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc—it includes 20% Sémillon—was mostly fermented and aged in stainless steel, with 25% going into oak. The result is a gently grassy-herbal wine loaded with grapefruit and nectarine-tinged fruit, plus hints of fig and melon. It's medium-bodied, plump and creamy on the mid-palate, then long and silky on the finish. It's nicely complex and composed. $32

The nose delivers layers of aromas—apple, baked pear, and lemon curd mingle with white peach, apricot, and honeysuckle with a dash of nutmeg and cinnamon just beneath the fruit. The palate is energetic and dynamic, beginning with a rich, mouth-filling texture reminiscent of lemon curd, followed by bright acidity that evokes lemon zest and honey-crisp apples. Finally, the beautiful acidity pulls the wine through the back of the palate, creating a long, structured finish. $60
