Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru NV
With this release, based on the 2014 vintage and disgorged in June-July 2019, what was formerly Egly's Brut "Tradition" becomes simply his NV Brut Grand Cru, a simplification that paves the way for several new cuvées from this reference-point grower that I'll be reporting about in due course. Changes in nomenclature aside, the wine in the bottle has never been better, and the latest release soars from the glass with an expressive bouquet of golden orchard fruit, honeycomb, citrus zest and freshly baked bread. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with real concentration and intensity, built around racy acids and chalky dry extract. The finish is long and lingering. $107 Our Price $82.99

Concentrated and piquant on the palate, this is a mineral and taut, very elegant Spätlese with lush fruit and a juicy-piquant finish that reveals a lingering purity, salinity and tension. Attention: this is extremely stimulating! Tasted in August 2018. $42 Our Price $34.95 Limited

2018 Pont Neuf Pont Royal
Russian River Chardonnay
Winemaker Notes: The 2018 Pont Royal reveals a brilliant clarity both in appearance and focused flavors. The vineyard character shows in the forward citrus, fresh peach, custard and honied beeswax which are consistent hallmarks of Pont Royal. The texture is crisp, but with a satisfying fullness and great persistence of flavors. French oak takes a back seat to the fruit, adding nuanced aromas of toasted brioche and fine structure to the wine. We employed 80% new oak from the Vosges forest, contributing the delicate toast and vanilla aromas and playing perfectly with bright citrus fruit. Barrel-fermented, aged on the lees and bottled un-fined and unfiltered, this natural fermentation showcases the vineyard and the vintage. 90 cases produced. $60 (Arrives 5/20/20)
2016 Wm. Harrison Rutherford
Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker Notes: Intense aromas of blackberry compote, with subtler notes of cocoa nib, blueberry and anise seed. The palate is full-bodied, with dense boysenberry flavors, a hint of roast coffee and smooth, well-integrated tannins. 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with 8% each Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. From the largest section of the Harrison’s estate vineyard, the “old” (1991) and “young” (1997) blocks produce the best grapes. Aged for 20 months in 50% new French and Hungarian oak, this Cabernet is a classic example of the Rutherford appellation. $60 (Delicious) Back in stock.
