2015 CIRQ Russian River Pinot

CIRQ is all about these two special places. Bootlegger’s Hill and Treehouse are their names. Both are located in the western reaches of the Russian River Valley high above the town of Occidental. Since 2009 we’ve been busy developing these vineyards with the sole focus of creating magic. The sites are special, the farming exemplary and the vision is to make Pinot Noir that speaks of these unique places. Although part of the Kosta Browne family, CIRQ is distinct and different. Focused exclusively on the two estate vineyards, CIRQ has its own character and we’re only just beginning to understand the potential of these sites – limited only by the small yields that the vineyards offer. Consider CIRQ a performance that happens once per year. A show that we are constantly rehearsing, sharpening our skills for and anticipating delighting you with. Inspired in name by my time in the circusand motivated by the goal of delighting our audience. This performance is for you and I hope you enjoy it as much as I. Michael Brown

2015 CIRQ Russian River Treehouse Pinot Noir

Winemaker Notes: Complex, with layered aromatics of exotic spice, dark cherry, plum and a touch of maple. Elegantly restrained with notes of basil, charred citrus peel and fennel pollen. Mouth: Powerful, with fine tannins that envelope the palate. The wine is grand and highly structured, with a lingering finish of blueberry, cherry and cranberry. $195 Limited (Arrives 11/7/18)

2015 CIRQ Russian River Bootlegger’s Hill Pinot Noir

Winemaker Notes: Soft notes of gardenia, grapefruit blossom and fresh lemon zest compliment the subtle hints of lavender and fennel seed. Mouth: Focused, with an expansive midpalate that highlights the balanced acid and fine tannins. $195 Limited (Arrives 11/7/18)

James Suckling 94 Points
Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir Eola-Amity Hills Roserock 2015

Another amazing pinot noir that shows such purity of the fruit. Blueberries, raspberries, lemons, oranges and hints of caramel. Medium to full body, an incredibly polished texture and a beautiful, exciting finish. Drink now or hold. $35 Our Price $26.95 (Back in stock 11/7/18)

2016 Carlisle Sonoma County Petite Sirah

Winemaker Notes: Largely composed of Rossi Ranch Petite Sirah, farmed by the meticulous, organic guru Phil Coturri, we found that the addition of small amounts of Palisades Petite Sirah and Rosella’s Syrah enhanced the texture, aromatics, and complexity of this wine. Seventeen percent new French oak and, like most of our wines, bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Very dark opaque ruby-purple. A berry-licious nose of blackberry and blueberry with a slight suggestion of graham cracker and freshly-tilled loamy earth. On the palate, very concentrated and deeply fruited. Tannins are present but for a Petite Sirah, this is surprisingly well-mannered and drinkable. Enjoy now with a decant or let ‘er ride up to 2032. $36 (Arrives 11/9/18)

2016 Joliesse Pinot Noir

Winemaker Notes: Dark crimson in the glass, the 2016 Joliesse Pinot Noir is enticing from beginning to end. You are greeted with notes of red cherry, red plum and a hint of baking spice on the nose. On the palate, delicate notes of cherry pie, sun ripened strawberry and a hint of cinnamon linger. Delicate and well balanced, this Pinot Noir moves gracefully across your palate. $15 Our Price $10.99 (Back in stock 11/7/18) Great Value!

DOMAINE ST.-PRÉFERT Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Auguste Favier Réserve 2016

This is beautifully rendered, with a core of focused red currant, plum and raspberry coulis flavors that stretches out nicely while flecks of tobacco, bergamot, and singed sandalwood weave around. A bolt of iron detail shows through the finish, with a light echo of worn leather. Well-built, showing ample energy in reserve. From France. Best from 2020 through 2040.—J.M. 100 cases imported. $72 (2 bottles available. Please email stan@grapetray.com)

Wine Advocate 96
2016 Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon M. Étain

The M. Étain comes mainly from a dry-farmed block at the toe of the lower block of the Scarecrow vineyard. The fruit is usually selected to be a little chewier and more fruit forward than Scarecrow. A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 6% Malbec and 3% Merlot, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon M. Étain is very deep purple-black in color and is a little youthfully mute to begin, opening out to reveal notes of crushed black and red currants, black cherries, warm plums and tilled black soil with hints of bay leaves, lavender, chargrill and unsmoked cigars plus a waft of pencil shavings. Full-bodied, rich, bold and seductive in the mouth, it has a firm frame of wonderfully ripe, fine-grained tannins and fantastic freshness lifting the red and black fruit layers with a long, earth-laced finish. 850 cases were made. $195 (4 bottles available on 11/7/18) Please email stan@grapetray.com
