Winemaker Notes: The 2015 Monterey Pinot Noir is spectacular. The wine has bright cherry aromas that are layered with notes of spice, Earl Grey tea, and hints of vanilla and toasted oak. This has an intense core of crushed plum, raspberry and boysenberry fruit flavors, draped with melted licorice notes and backed by a wave of warm fruitcake. 2015 Martinelli Zinfandel Lolita Ranch
At the higher end of the alcohol spectrum, these Martinelli Zinfandels are powerful wines for sure, but I hasten to add that they are beautifully balanced and in terms of flavor, tannin and complexity, they represent the pinnacles of ripeness in every sense. Medium garnet colored, the 2015 Zinfandel Lolita Ranch sports notes of baked black cherries, dark chocolate, Indian spices and potpourri with savory hints of grilled meat and yeast extract. Big, buxom and gloriously full-bodied (and then some), the tannins are marvelously velvety and the richness is nicely offset by lively acidity, finishing with epic length. $60

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve To Kalon is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Deep ruby/purple-colored, notes of sweet crème de cassis, blackberry, charcoal and toast are present in the subtle but intense aromatics. The wine is full-bodied and classically crafted, building incrementally on the palate and displaying full-bodied richness, sweet tannin, and a potential to age for 25-30 + years. Winemaker Notes: Our 2013 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is garnet in color with a ruby red rim, it has an alluring nose of blackberry bramble, baking spices and black olive. Aromas of vanilla, cassis and sage fill the glass, revealing the influence of American oak barrel aging. There's a phenomenal nose to this wine with crushed berry, wet earth, wet slate and hints of flowers. Full body with a chewy tannic structure, yet soft and polished. Powerful and rich. Muscular and toned. Has form. Slightly austere tannins. This needs at least four to seven years of bottle age. The high percentage of merlot from Howell Mountain gives this wine a real edge and beauty. A blend of 62.3% cabernet sauvignon, 30.2% merlot and 7.5% petit verdot. 2015 Vice Versa • Cabernet Sauvignon Magnificent Seven
A blend of “the best of” Beckstoffer’s Las Piedras, Dr. Crane and To Kalon vineyards, 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Magnificent Seven sports a deep garnet-purple color and rock star nose of crème de cassis, baked plums, plum pudding and mulberries with hints of Chinese five spice, menthol, dark chocolate and dusty soil. Full-bodied and jam packed with expressive black fruit voices, it fills the mouth with exotic spice and earthy accents, finishing with a grainy texture and bags of character. 25 cases only were made.
